Hello! Happy Spring and we are almost to May already! wow! I had wonderful intentions to blog here once a month and I see that my last blog (my first ever blog) was 2 years ago... seriously?? Where did the time go? I began Osteopathy schooling in September of 2018, and it really has been a fast and furious ride since. I have learned to juggle massage, teaching and my own studying. Well, here we are, and I am now unofficially at the half way mark of osteopathy schooling!
Non Essential business... it has been 6 weeks since my Massage Therapy practice has been "on hold". At first, I was in shock and also I had fear since I could see what happening in Italy and Spain with the pandemic. The last time a pandemic of this nature / large of scale was 100 yrs ago with the Spanish Flu of 1819. Could we really be going through something similar 100 yrs later? I mean, this is 2020! I definitely went through some grief from the changes that were happening so quickly and the uncertainty of what was to come... and then we hear that massage therapists have been considered ''non-essential' and we have no idea when our governing bodies will give us back to work plan, the most recent date announced is May 6th... but of course, that can change. I definitely want all of my clients to be safe, however that looks. I have kept busy with studying and a few online courses. I have napped and I have gone on walks. Trust me, some of my days have been super busy. I have also been trying to brain storm ways to serve my clients that are used to me working the knots out of their backs, necks and shoulders... so, one thing I will start posting more regularly are some self care stretches and other at home solutions. If you anyone is looking for a good stretching book, you can click this link to get the stretches that I would send out to you and this is the source that I will be posting some from here and there in the upcoming blogs. I have been using Brad Walker's Ultimate Guide to Stretching book since 2010. You can get a PDF version of it below for about $20 USD. I believe he is including some downloads with it that talk about how to stretch effectively - one short MP3, one longer MP3 and pdf report for those that prefer to read it! Disclaimer - I use affiliate links, meaning, I get a small commission with sales using the links that I post. I would only post products that I have used myself.
